AUBURN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — Police officers in Auburn are being credited with saving a hawk over the weekend.

Officer Andrew Jarman found the injured Cooper's hawk, who was not able to fly.

Officer Jarman, Sergeant Steven Gosselin and Officer Daniel Chabot of the Auburn police department were able to get the hawk in a container and transfer it to Avian Haven in Freedom, which is a wildlife rehabilitation center.

Police say the hawk suffered a badly broken humerus on one of its wings and is undergoing surgery but is expected to make full recovery.
