Police look to ID suspect in Lewiston convenience store robbery

LEWISTON (NEWS CENTER Maine) — Police are asking the public for assistance in identifying the suspect of a robbery in Lewiston.

Officers responded shortly after 4 a.m. Wednesday to the Big Apple convenience store on Main Street for a report that a man had stolen cash from the clerk.

Police were told the suspect entered the store and attempted to make a purchase then, as the cashier opened the register, the suspect jumped onto the counter and grabbed an undisclosed amount of money from the register before fleeing on foot.

A subsequent search of the area using a police K-9 turned up no leads.

No weapon was displayed or threats made during the incident, police said.

The suspect is described by police as a white male who is about 5 feet 8 inches tall wearing a black hoodie with a white logo on the left breast and back as well as blue jeans. He also appeared to have a fresh cut over his right eye and possibly blood on his right hand.
