ALFRED, Maine (AP) - State police in Maine say an 81-year-old Lebanon man died Monday after his moped was struck by a car.

Police say Russel Faxon was struck on Route 202 when Laura Melisi, 65, of Acton, was attempting to turn left into an ice cream stand. She was behind a large box truck, and she did not see the scooter after the truck passed.

Faxon died at the scene.

Melisi was uninjured. Faxon was not wearing a helmet, according to officials.
