Honor Flight Telethon: Thank you

(NEWS CENTER) -- On November 17, NEWS CENTER hosted our first Honor Flight Telethon. And we want to thank our viewers for making it as successful as it was.

Our phone lines went live beginning at 5 a.m. The initial plan was to keep them open until 6:30 p.m., but with the overwhelming amount of calls, we took donations beyond that.

Throughout the day, Maine's veterans and the Freeport Flag Ladies took calls alongside NEWS CENTER staff.

Honor Flight Maine is a non-profit organization solely created to transport Maine veterans to Washington D.C. for tours of the memorials built in their honor. It costs $700 to fund a veteran round-trip with Honor Flight Maine, and the first honor flight was in May of 2014.

With your generosity, NEWS CENTER was able to raise $90,000 and counting. With your help, we can send 128 veterans to Washington D.C.

But you don't have to wait until the next telethon to donate. The organization is always taking donations at HonorFlightMaine.org.
