UPDATE: State Fire Marshal’s arrested a Lincoln man Thursday in connection with the fires at the former Lincoln paper mill.
According to Department of Public Safety, police arrested 59-year old David Parsons of Lincoln around noon. Parsons is charged with three counts of arson. Police say he is a former employee of the mill. Parsons was arrested at the Lincoln Police station, where he had been questioned by fire investigators. He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
Police says a scale house and a vacant storage building were destroyed in the fires which were fought by nearly a dozen fire departments. A third fire at the mill’s wastewater facility went out by itself.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office was assisted by State and Lincoln Police.
LINCOLN, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- There were 2 separate fires Wednesday at the former Lincoln Paper and Tissue Mill.
According to Tony Hallett with the Lincoln News the first fire broke out around 3 pm and the other fire broke out while they were still investigating the first fire around 5pm.
Hallett says at least 10 fire departments responded to fight the fire.
Hallett also says there have been demolition crews working in the mill for a few months.
