PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Five people are homeless Thursday after a fire at an apartment building on Forest Avenue in Portland.

The two-alarm fire broke out shortly before noon and started on the third floor of the building. A few of tenants were home when the fire started, but everyone made it out safely.

That section of Forest Avenue was shut down for a couple of hours as firefighters put the fire out.

At this point, the fire does not appear suspicious, but there is no word on the cause.
