BRIDGTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A fire destroyed a barn and a home on South Bridgton Road Tuesday afternoon.

The fire started in the barn and then spread to the home, which has three apartments. Fire officials said everyone in the nearby home made it out safely. The Bridgton Fire Deputy Chief said there were major problems with having enough manpower. The fire department mostly relies on volunteer firefighters. The fire took 30 minutes to get under control, but if there had been more firefighters, it could have been done it around five minutes.

A State Fire Marshal investigator is working to determine the cause of the fire. Firefighters said they will be cleaning up through Tuesday evening.
