Charges dropped for man accused of threatening soccer team

Steven Butler said charges that he threatened high school soccer players with a weapon were dropped due to insufficient evidence

BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Steven Butler, of Bangor, told NEWS CENTER that all charges are dropped against him.

Butler was arrest by police on October 3 and charged with terrorizing a Bangor high school soccer team with a weapon.

Butler said that he never threatened anyone and never left his property. According to Butler, a group of teenagers entered his property from the Union Street Athletic Complex and he asked them to leave.

Butler said the charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence.

Since the incident between Butler and the soccer team, a new fence has been installed between Butler's property and the soccer fields.

Butler told NEWS CENTER that he still not allowed on any Bangor school property.
