Farrmington, Maine (NEWS CENTER) Finding someone with a blood type match can be somewhat easy, but finding a bone marrow match can be more challenging. The University of Maine at Farmington's women's soccer team has joined forces with "Be the Match" bone marrow program to host an event called "All for Ally."
The event is held in hopes of finding a bone marrow match for University of Southern Maine's soccer player Ally Little who was recently diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia.
.It's a condition that stops the body from producing blood cells required for a strong and healthy immune system. A bone marrow transplant is currently the only cure and there's no match for her yet in the marrow registry. The drive is going on at the UMF student center until 2pm today.
