AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Augusta Police Department says they understand sleep is important to the fire department, so you won't catch them trying to wake them up with their sirens.
Last week, a Bangor Police Officer recorded a video of him pulling a prank on the Bangor Fire Department by turning on his siren in the middle of the night while the firefighters were sleeping.
Augusta Police decided to put up a sign in front of the Augusta Fire Department that discouraged such behavior.

At the Augusta Police Department we take it very seriously that all our personnel be well rested before going on duty. We wanted to extend that sentiment to our friends at the Fire department because we know how hard working they are and since we can't be there all night to ensure their slumber goes uninterrupted, we placed this sign to remind everyone that they need their rest especially at night. Our officers who work overnight will endeavor to be there to make sure no loud noises like sirens, whistles or bells disturb Augustas Best! Augusta Maine Fire-Rescue we are there for you 🇺🇸🚒🚔🚨
