You probably don't have to poke around much in your closet or basement to find things that you really ought to get rid of.

Most of us feel so good when we finally unload stuff we no longer need that we don't think much about where it will end up. But when you donate an old coat or a toaster or whatever to Goodwill, the journey for those items is just beginning.

They get sorted and sent to various stores. If they don't get sold in 5 weeks, they wind up at the Buy The Pound store. The items are loaded into bins and rolled onto the shopping floor. There, buyers have 45 minutes to scoop up the deals.

You pay for that stuff by the pound, hence the store name. And quality is all over the place. Some things you won't buy, but you can still find incredible, unused things.
