PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- For the first time, the Marine Corps Reserve and the Portland Police Department joined forces to bring smiles to children this holiday season through Toys for Tots.

In Monument Square on Saturday, members of Alpha Company First Battalion 25th Marines and Portland Police officers collected new toys and monetary donations. The goal is to get presents to as many needy families as possible in the greater Portland area for Christmas.

Anyone who may have missed the collection in Monument Square can still donate to Toys for Tots at drop boxes at the Portland Police Department of Cummings Community Center. Click here to find Toys For Tots collections happening in your area.
